How much is lunch?
Lunch is $1.75 for students and $3.00 for adults. Milk bought
separately is 60 cents. You are always welcome to join your
child for lunch. We do ask that you do not bring food from a
fast food restaurant.
What time is lunch?
Lunch is from 11:25-11:55. Please provide a healthy snack for
your child to eat and water to drink. No candy please!
How many students are in your class?
There are 23 students in my class. 12 boys and 11 girls.
Do students take standardized tests?
Yes. They will take the IOWA (basic skills test).
They will also take the CRCT(a criterion referenced test) based
on reading, english/language arts, math, science and social
studies skills.
How can I help my child prepare for these tests?
Be sure that your child completes their homework daily. Be sure
to ask if they need help. Hold them accountable for completing
all work. Beginning in January, they should take CRCT practice
tests online. You can also purchase the Georgia CRCT 3rd Grade
Practice Tests (a green paperback workbook) for additional help.
Will my child have book reports?
Yes, they will have at least one per quarter.
Do the students have recess?
Yes. The students will have recess everyday from 10:30-10:45 outside, weather permitting. Please dress your child accordingly
and label all outer garments.
Can I have a birthday party for my child?
Unfortunately, we are not able to have birthday parties. You may
bring a juice drink and cupcakes or cake/cookie cake that is
precut. We are not allowed to have sharp knives, candles or
matches at school. I have found that cupcakes are really easy.
You may bring the refreshments to the cafeteria during lunch,
11:25-11:55.
Do I need to help my child with homework?
Yes, if needed. I would like for them to first attempt it on
their own. It is very important that students gain confidence
with work sent home. I hope that you will check their work,(for
accuracy and neatness), before they turn it in the following day.
