How much is lunch?
Lunch is $1.75 for students and $3.00 for adults. Milk bought
separately is 60 cents. You are always welcome to join your child
for lunch. We do ask that you do not bring food from a fast food
restaurant.
What time is lunch?
Lunch is from 11:50-12:20. Please provide a healthy snack for
your child to eat and water to drink. No candy please!
How many students are in your class?
There are 22 students in my class. 12 boys and 10 girls.
Do students take standardized tests?
No, they take the CRCT (a criterion referenced test) based on
reading, english/language arts and math skills.
How can I help my child prepare for this test?
Reviewing homework, reading and studying spelling words daily are
crucial components in helping. I usually supply the skills that
we are discussing on the Weekly Skills site. Communicate with
your child by asking questions about what they are doing.
Continuing to ask questions about what they are reading will help
in building comprehension. Remember also that you can take the
practice CRCT tests that are available online. You will be
notified (schoolwide) when the CRCT test is online.
Can I come and read to the class?
You will need to call the Room Moms to get on the scheduled list
after Open House.
Do the students have recess?
Yes. The students will have recess everyday from 12:25-12:40
outside, weather permitting. Please dress your child accordingly
and label all outer garments.
Can I have a birthday party for my child?
Unfortunately, we are not able to have birthday parties. You may
bring a juice drink and cupcakes or cake/cookie cake that is
precut. We are not allowed to have sharp knives, candles or
matches at school. I have found that cupcakes are really easy.
You may bring the refreshments during our snack time, 9:10-9:20.
Depending on our schedule, I may ask you to bring them a few
minutes early so that we do not get off schedule.
Do I need to help my child with homework?
Yes, if needed. I would like for them to first attempt it on
their own. It is very important that students gain confidence
with work sent home. I hope that you will check their work,(for
accuracy and neatness), before they turn it in the following day.
