Classroom Procedure

I, _____________________________________________(your name) understand that:

1. When I enter the room (on time) I will immediately begin to work on the
bellringer posted on the Smartboard. I am not to wait until I am instructed
to do so by the teacher.

2. If I am tardy for class, I will enter the room silently, so as not to
disturb the work in progress. If I have a written note, I will place it in
the designated box, go to my seat without conversation, get out materials,
and wait for the teachers instructions. I will not disturb others by asking
my neighbors what is going on. If I am tardy and do not have an excuse, I
will quietly sign the tardy list and follow the above procedure.

3. Unless there is an emergency, I will only discuss personal matters,
makeup tests, grades, etc. with the teacher before or after class.

4. Once class starts, I will concentrate on that days lesson, forget
other matters and attempt to accomplish as much as I can in class each day.

5. I am to keep a current and accurate journal throughout the semester.

6. If I am absent on a test day, I will be expected to makeup the test
either before or after school on Thursday, immediately following the date of
my excused absence. The only exception will be in the case of a prolonged
illness. Failure to show up for a makeup test will result in a zero. I
forgot is not an acceptable excuse for missing a makeup. Since there are
two times of the day available for makeup work, medical appointments,
practices, and jobs do not qualify as excuses because these do not last all
day. Parents's notes after the makeup are unacceptable. If parents must
communicate about a makeup, the phone call or the e-mail must be made or
sent before the scheduled makeup.

7. If I am absent the day an assignment is due, I will turn it in the
first day I return. It will be my responsibility to turn in the work on
time. I will not be reminded by the teacher.

8. When I am absent, it is my responsibility to check on assignments and
turn them in promptly or to get notes from a reliable student. I further
understand that I will not miss current work in order to do makeup work
during class.

9. I will maintain a notebook and a journal. The notebook and journal may
be evaluated at any time without prior notice. Entries in the notebook should
include every item listed in the syllabus and anything else that my teacher
tells me. Entries must be in my own handwriting (when applicable).

10. I will adhere to the requirements for this class and will share this
memorandum with my parents in order to avoid any misunderstandings in the
future.
