In addition to reading 20 minutes each night, your child will complete the
following Math, Language Arts, Writing, and Reading activities throughout the
week:
Homework Journal Schedule
Monday: Math and Language Arts Skills
Tuesday: Writing Prompt
Wednesday: Math and Language Arts Skills
Thursday: Reading Response
The Homework Journal is due each Friday and will be returned the following
Monday.
Extra Spelling Practice for Homework (does not need to be turned in):
Each week, your child will be recording spelling words in their agenda. You
will also find that I have posted a list of the 2nd Grade High Frequency Words
on our class website. Please refer to the list of fun spelling activities
that was sent home in the Open House packet. The students may complete these
fun activities during the week to practice both the weekly spelling words and
the 2nd Grade High Frequency Words. There will not be a spelling test. We
will be focusing on the spelling words during our spelling lessons and during
our literacy workstations each week.
*The homework journal assignments will no longer be posted on the class
website. The children are doing a fantastic job putting their homework
assignments in their journal, completing the journal assignments, and turning
it in on Friday. If you happen to notice that your child has forgotten to
turn in their homework journal, please have them turn it in on Monday
morning.
