Mrs. David

Hello, my name is Nancy David. This is my fourth year teaching at Vaughan and my eighteenth year of teaching in Cobb County. Previously I taught kindergarten and K-1 multiage at Powder Springs Elementary. I received my Bachelor of Science degree from Kennesaw State University in 1990. Before I began my teaching career I was a mental health counselor for the state of Georgia.

I was born in Granite City, Illinois but moved around quite frequently due to my father’s work. I have lived in Illinois, Virginia, Ohio, and Georgia. I firmly consider Georgia my home state. I moved here in 1977 and fell in love with “southern hospitality”. My family lived in Cedartown where I met my husband Clay. We were high school sweethearts and have been married for 27 years. Clay is a CPA in Marietta with the firm Cain & David. We have two sons, Clay Jr. age 25 and Justin age 22. Clay Jr. has recently become engaged and Justin will be celebrating his first anniversary on August 1st. We also have a very energetic golden retriever named Jursie and a loveable cat named Rudy.

I love to play tennis! It is my one excuse to get outside and spend time with friends. I am very involved at my church with our special needs ministry. My husband and I love to travel when we have the opportunity.

Mrs. Sharp

I too am beginning my fourth year at Vaughan Elementary. I began my teaching career in 1983 after graduating from Appalachian State University in Boone, North Carolina. Once I graduated, I married and moved with my husband, Alan, to Leesville, Louisiana, where he was stationed as an infantry officer at Fort Polk. While there, I taught kindergarten until we moved to Augusta, Georgia and I taught 1st and 2nd grade.

In 1987, my son, Casey, was born and in 1990, my daughter, Emily was born. I stayed home with them until Emily was in the second grade. We moved to Powder Springs in 1994 and my children attended Varner. Casey is now a senior at UGA and Emily is a sophomore at Ohio University. My husband started his own sports marketing company in 2001 called "SharpEdge Ventures".

I love to read and garden and do yoga. I enjoy working with children and count it a privilege to teach them. It is so exciting to see them grow and change!
