Scholastic Reading Counts!

Georgia Department of Education requires students to read a minimum of one million words per year. Scholastic Reading Counts is an independent supplemental reading program that tracks students' success in reaching that goal. Students may chose from thousands of books housed in the media center to read and then take a test measuring their reading comprehension. Students who reach milestones attend semi-annual celebrations, are given awards and prizes as well as other recognition. Participation in the program is required by all literature teachers at Villa Rica Middle School as part of the student's grade. Parents are encouraged to contact their child's literature teacher for more information.

Our first semester RC celebration is tentatively scheduled for Friday, Jan. 27th at 9am.  Any student who earns at least 120 points OR reads at least 500,000 words from library books will be invited to attend this celebration. If you have any questions, you may contact the media center.
