MEDIA CENTER
The Villa Rica Middle School Media Center Staff is always ready to assist and
instruct students in the use of the Media Center and available resources.
Behavior:
One of the Media Center’s purposes is to provide a place that is conducive to
reading, studying and research. Students’ behavior in the Media Center should
be considerate. Students are expected to respect the rights of others, and
the property of others and the school.
Students not following these guidelines will be instructed to return to
class. If necessary, the student will be referred to an administrator.
Hours:
The Media Center will be open daily for student use between the hours of 8:30
a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Monday thru Friday.
Students are encouraged to utilize the Media Center and are reminded to
follow the rules and procedures established for the Media Center.
Passes:
Students gain admittance to the Media Center, during classroom instruction
hours, with a signed student AGENDA. No pass is needed before or after
school.
Sign In/Out:
Students are required to sign in at the circulation desk upon their arrival
in the Media Center. The Sign In/Out sheet should have the student’s first
and last name, teacher’s name, and time of arrival. The student should record
his/her time of departure on the Sign In/Out sheet. Administrators and
teachers often confirm a student’s time in the Media Center by checking the
Sign In/Out sheet.
Checkouts:
Two books may be checked out for a two-week period. A book may be renewed
once, if another patron has not previously reserved it. Reference books and
magazines are not checked out at this time and should not be removed from the
Media Center.
Overdue:
When a book is checked out, a date due slip is placed in the book and the
student is made aware of the due date. Students will receive a reminder when
their books are overdue. The charge for an overdue book is ten cents a day.
Failure to respond to multiple notices will result in disciplinary actions.
Students, who are chronically late returning books, currently have an overdue
book, or owe for damages will have restricted access to Media Center
