What You Need to Know About Me!

This is my 5th year teaching 9th grade at "The Lake" and I am loving every
minute of it! I am the proud mother of the most fabulous 12 year old
daughter ever and you will hear a lot about her this year. (Ask any of my
previous students and they'll tell you that she is my favorite subject...and
she's cute too!) I'm also a very busy person this year! Not only do I have
the pleasure of teaching all of you, but I'm also the 9th Grade Academy
Coordinator and I'm working on my doctorate degree at The University of West
Georgia. (Whew! You think YOU have homework!) I am a true Christmas baby
(Born on December 25) and love it...especially since I am an only child and
the first born grandchild. (And yes I was spoiled as a kid and still am to a
degree. Hey,being an only has it's benefits!)

Education: Bachelor of Arts in English: Bentley College, Waltham MA
Masters of Education: Georgia State University, Atlanta GA
Doctorate in School Improvement: University of West Georgia,Pending

My Favorite Pasttimes: reading and writing (pretty obvious for an English
Teacher, huh?) but I also enjoy dancing, listening to music, cooking and
eating. (I especially like the eating part.)

My Favorite Books: The Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis, Paradise by Toni
Morrison, Pygmalion by George Bernard Shaw, Iola Leroy by Frances
E.W.Harper, The Color Purple by Alice Walker, The Iliad by Homer, Invisible
Man by Ralph Ellison, The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexander Dumas, Heart of
Darkness by Joseph Conrad and Animal Farm by George Orwell. (And that's just
the top ten!)

My Favorite Music: Jazz, R&B (Old and New), Rap (Old School Mostly) Hip Hop,
Gospel. (Tupac shall live forever!)

My Favorite Unit in the 9th grade curriculum: Actually I like them all but
Romeo and Juliet and The Odyssey are probably my favorites. (Okay, I like
poetry and non fiction too so let's just say I like them all and leave it at
that!)

Least Favorite Things: Students who cheat, lie or are generally
disrespectful, grammar(Yes, I said it. I dislike grammar. I can teach it,
you will learn it and you'll understand it but I've never liked it...),
brussel sprouts, peas, beets, horror movies and thunderstorms

Mission For The Class

I expect one thing and one thing only from my students and that is that they
come to class everyday ready to learn. Period. Your best is expected nad
required. There is NO half-steppin' in my class!

Your mission, if you choose to accept it, is to take the challenges my
classes bring and emerge victorious. Many have traveled this way before and
found success. The question you must ask and answer for yourself is what
will you do?
