How does dismissal work?

Kindergarten students are dismissed at 2:25 (12:30 on early
release day). Mrs. Hoffman takes the parent pick-up students out
the door by our classroom and keeps the students in a group along
the sidewalk. You will not need to get out of your car, simply
drive around the circle and stop where the sign that says "Cheal"
and Mrs. Hoffman will put your child in the cr. PLEASE DO NOT
PARK ANYWHERE BUT IN PARKING SPOTS. If your child is a member of
the after school program, an employee from that program will stop
by the room to pick up your child. Day care students and school
bus students stay in the classroom with me until their bus is
called and then walk up front to the bus pick up area. IF YOUR
CHILD WILL BE GOING HOME IN A DIFFERENT MANNER THAN WHAT IS
TYPICAL, PLEASE WRITE A NOTE TO LET US KNOW. ALSO, IF YOUR CHILD
IS NOT RIDING HIS/HER DAY CARE VAN FOR THE DAY, YOU WILL NEED TO
CONTACT THE DAYCARE.

How do I pay for lunch?

I suggest paying for several days, even weeks at a time. The
price for a student lunch is $1.75. You can go to
www.mylunchmoney.com and using a credit or debit card, apply funds
to your child's lunch account. You will need you child's Georgia
ID number. Please contact me and I will give you this number if
you have not already received it. If you decide to pay the
lunch money directly to the school, (they only accept cash at
the school), you will need to take this to the cafeteria
yourself. The cafeteria will let you know when and if your child
owes lunch money.

Do I put AR books on the reading log?

If your child reads his/her AR book only one time (not what I
recommend) do not put it on the log. I will count this when I do
my AR reports. However, please log any addtiional readings of
the book. Therefore, if your child reads the book 5 times, put
it on the log 5 times.

Should I send in an extra set of clothing?

Unfortunately, our schedule does not allow us to (as a class)
take daily bathroom breaks. I allow the children to use the
bathroom in the classroom whenever they need to. Sometimes
(especially at the beginning of the year) the children do have
bathroom accidents. You might want to send a change of clothing
for this purpose. The clothes can stay in your child's book
bag.

How does AR work?

Each week your child will bring home his/her AR book in a colored
bag. If at any time your child brings home an AR book that
he/she has already tested on, please return it IMMEDIATLEY and we
will get another one. Students can only test on a title one
time. AR testing day will be on a designated day each week.
Our AR buddies, 4th grade Mrs. Hoskins class, will come to our
class and your child will be matched up to a 4th grade student.
The 4th grader will help your child log into the computer and
take the AR test. AR buddies WILL NOT have time to read the book
to your child. Please make sure you have read the AR book with
your child at least 3 times before AR testing day. Also, PLEASE
make sure your child brings his/her AR book in the AR bag every
AR testing day. Please look on the Renaissance Website for
parents to check your child's score.
