What type of snack should my child bring to school?
Please send a healthy snack such as fruit, cheese, etc. with your child to
school each day. Please do not send cookies, cake or candy bars. You can
also send a water bottle to school filled with water only, no fruit juices
or gatorade.
When can my child make additional purchases at lunch?
I strongly suggest that you let Friday be a 'special' treat day for any
additional purchases (i.e. ice cream, chips, flavored waters, etc.) at lunch
to help your child develop healthy eating habits. The final decision is
between you and your child but I would like to limit these to Friday only.
Your child is always allowed to make additional purchases from the line when
they are making their lunch choices. However, there is an additional cost for
items not included in the standard lunch menu.
How can my child go home a different way?
A note must be sent with your child the day of the change. The teacher is
not allowed to take the word of the child. Remember, it MUST be in
writing.
What do I do if my child is absent?
You must send a written excuse when your child returns to school. If a note
is not sent in, it will automatically be an unexcused absence.
How often should my child bring home book?
Your child can bring home books Monday thru Friday from the class library
or the school library or they can read any book of their chosing from home
or the public library. They should read about 15-20 minutes each night and
write down the title of the book on their Reading Log. Your child should
also be reading on the weekends. On the Reading Log you can list any books
that you are reading to your child, with your child or them reading independently.
