The Turtle Packet (Weekly Assignments)

Your child will recieve an assignment packet for the week every Monday
called "The Turtle Packet." Assignments in their Turtle Packet are due every
Friday. Assignments will be in math, spelling, handwriting, grammar, and
theme (science/social studies/health). Occassionally, your child will have a
special project to complete beside completing their Turtle Packet for the
week. Here are some important guidelines to follow while doing your Turtle
Packet.

* Always use pencil.
* If coloring is involved use crayons or color pencils. No markers please.
* If cutting is involved, let your child do the cutting.
* Always write your name on the cover page of your Turtle Packet.
* An adult should always check your Turtle Packet before you turn it in on
  Friday.
* Parents please initial your child's Turtle Packet at the bottom of the
  cover page each week..
* Turtle Packets are due every Friday!
* Please place your Turtle Packet in your Take Home Binder when you turn it
  in on Friday.
* Bring your "Take Home Binder" to school daily.
* Encourage your child to do their personal best. Remember that practice
  makes permenanet.

Your child will always have an assignment in Reading which is called Over
Night Express. The way Over Night Express works is that your child will choose
a book from a basket which has books that are a little easy, a little bit
harder, and just right for them. The books that are found in your child's
basket are based on your child's independent reading level which was
determined by a Direct Reading Assessment. Each night your child has the
option of reading the book by themselves, together with you, or you reading the
book to them. Once your child has read their book for the night have them
record the title of the book in their reading log. Your child's Over Night
Express folder and book are to be returned to school daily in order for your
child to choose a new book to read. I personally want to thank you in helping
your child become a more confident and fluent reader.
