Class News

5/18/12
Hello parents and students. Between all of yesterday and today's fun, I forgot to remind students that Monday will be a "camp out" day here at school. They may bring in a sleeping bag or blanket, pillow, and stuffed animal if they would like. They may also wear their pajamas. This just might be the last time they have a pajama day at school!! We will be cleaning up and bringing home most materials. Once we have things cleaned, organized, etc. We will "camp out" in the classroom. Our book buddies will join us and we will enjoy smores!!! So please remind your children for me since I did not discuss any of this today!!!
On another note, I said I would email you if your child is receiving an award at the awards assembly. I said that not realizing how many emails that would be!!! If you are free to come to the assembly and would like to know if your child is receiving an award, please email me and I will respond with a simple yes or no. Thanks for helping me out with this!! Have a wonderful weekend. Can you believe there are only 4 more days left?!

5/16/12
Hello everyone!! Things are winding down to the last day of school so I wanted you to know that the grades have been updated online. Students have until Monday to turn in any missing work. Missing work is marked with an M on Engrade. I will be emailing you soon to let you know if your child will be receiving any awards at the awards assembly.

2/25/11
Hello parents!! I have updated the grades so you may view your child's midway progress for this grading period. Instead of leaving any missing assignments blank like I normally do, I went ahead and put in an M for missing. Engrade will average an M as a zero. Students have until May 18th to get all work turned in for the report card. Many of these missing assignments were turned in today after the kids saw what their averages looked like! I will send out a Newsflash at the beginning of next week when I update the online grades again.

Do you want to come to Chattanooga with us?!? I need 4 chaperones to attend the trip with us and supervise a small group for the day. If you are interested in being a chaperone, I need you to email me or send a note in by Monday. I'd like to decide who my chaperones are on Monday. If you are selected, you will need to send in $70 on Tuesday. It is a very fun trip from what I have been told and this may be one of the last opportunities to do something like this with your child!! Email me if you have any questions.

4/9/11
Hello parents. I hope you all enjoyed your week off!!! Monday folders will come home tomorrow. I wasn't able to get them ready in time! We will be starting CRCT testing next week and you will get a letter about it tomorrow in the weekly folder. I also wanted to remind you all that we will be taking the 5th grade panoramic photo tomorrow morning at 8:00 am. These are prepay only and cost $16.These are really nice photos and I still have mine from middle school. It was a huge hit at my high school reunion!! Don't miss out on this awesome memory.

Hello parents!! Report cards went home today along with weekly folders. You may view the breakdown of your child's average on Engrade. I dropped the lowest grade in reading, social studies, math, and English since I took so many grades in those subjects. You will see an empty space instead of a grade if it was dropped. If you see a score of 50, that means that assignment was never turned in.

Help!!! We need paper towels again!! Thanks! :)

Hello everyone. I just wanted to let you know that I have updated the grades online. Please view your child's progress. I am also offering extra credit to students that participate in the science fair!!

2/6/12
Hello everyone!! Grades have been updated online. Please see how your child is progressing. We are almost at the half way mark in the grading period. Students have the rest of this week to fill in any holes for missing grades that are currently posted. I will not accept the old work after Friday and any blanks will turn into F's.
We are moving into geometry in math. If you have any circles that I can have, I would appreciate it!! I'm looking for plastic lids and things of that nature so we can investigate the properties of circles. Please send in circles of all sizes. Thank you! :)

1/31/12
Hello parents! Picture order forms were sent home today. Picture day will be on Tuesday, February 7th. This year they are doing things a little differently so I wanted to make you aware. If you would like a class picture, you must pre-order and pre-pay for it. All students will have an individual picture taken too. Later, a packet of pictures will be sent home for you to look at and possibly purchase. You will pay for the pictures you want and return what you don't want to pay for. Class pictures will be distributed in a separate packet to the students that have pre-ordered and pre-paid for one. We have a very good-looking class, so don't miss out on the opportunity to purchase a class picture!!!

Hello everyone!! I wanted to let you know that I have updated some of the grades for this current grading period. You may view your child's progress on Engrade.
We will also begin doing CRCT review packets. I sent one home today. It is due next Friday. We will go over the answers on Friday. There are two questions about prime factorization in the pack that the students will not know how to do. I did not teach it since it is not one of the tested standards. They can go online and see how to do it or you can show them but I will not be spending time on this since there are so many other things to cover that will be tested.
          Have a wonderful weekend!!

1/19/12

Hello parents!! We are currently learning a little about Theodore Roosevelt in both reading and social studies classes. I am allowing students to bring in a teddy bear tomorrow if they have one. I will be bringing the one I have had since my 2nd birthday!!
We are also in SERIOUS need of paper towels!! Please send them in ASAP if you can. Thank you all for your help.
