All school bus riders: The Department of Education will be implementing a
change to its school bus policy that will affect all school bus riding
students. Beginning Tuesday, October 11, all High School students who fail
to display a valid bus pass or present a valid bus coupon IN THE MORNING will
be refused a ride to school. Also, all students in all grades who fail to
display a valid bus pass or present a valid bus coupon IN THE AFTERNOONS will
be refused a ride home. Be sure you have a valid bus pass or coupon if you

Seniors: This is a reminder that if you are applying for the Grove Farm
Scholarship, applications are due to Mrs. Williams by March 2, 2012. (Mrs.

All Seniors: There are MANY NEW scholarship opportunities available this
month. Please come upstairs in the library and check out the new scholarship
application cabinet. There are at least 30 different scholarships students
can apply for. Do not delay! (Mrs. Williams)
ANNOUNCEMENTS TO TEACHERS AND STUDENTS
***All students: May Day Elections have begun. Please come and cast your
vote this week during lunch in A-203. School IDs are required to cast your
vote. (Mrs. Purcell)
All teachers and students: Our annual Poetry Out Loud contest will be held
at lunch on Wednesday, February 29th, upstairs in the library. Sign up for
the contest through your English teacher by February 22nd. Our school-wide
winner will go to Oahu for the State contest on March 18th. The winner at
State's goes to Washington, D.C. for a chance to win $20,000 in scholarship

Seniors: Be a hero, save three lives! The Blood Bank of Hawaii will be on
Kauai on February 14. Earn your Blood Donor Honor Card. See Mrs. Bell to

All Students: Valentine's Day is near. Send a special friend or someone a
heart valentine balloon. Come purchase a balloon for $2 in P-26 today
through Feb. 13. Balloons will be delivered to your 4th period classes on
Valentine's Day. (Mrs. Purcell)

If your teen will be in grade 12 for the upcoming school year, please have
their senior picture taken during the summer vacation. You may have their
photo taken professionally or take one on your own, as long as you meet the
following guidelines: The photo must be of your teen only, it must be a head
& shoulder shot, no inappropriate clothing or gestures, and all photos
must
be at least wallet size or submitted on a digital disk which must be 300
dpi. The deadline to submit their senior picture will be Friday, September
9, 2011 to ensure it appearing in the yearbook, and the Garden Island

*Note: PARKING PERMIT APPLICATIONS are available two weeks after the start
of school at the main office. Forms must be completely filed prior to
turning them into the Account Clerk's office. Cost for the permit is $5.00.
SCHOOL SUPPLIES, Kauai High School does not have a school supplies list,
students are asked to bring a notebook and a pen on the first day of school
as teachers will inform students as to what supplies they will need for that
class.

VISITORS ON CAMPUS
All visitors are to report directly to the main office. All visitors,
including guest speakers MUST obtain permission from the school's
Administration prior to their visit. No relatives or friends of students
are to visit during school hours. The visitor's parking area is located in
front of "U" Building or at the 1 hour parking along Lala Road.
NOTE REGARDING ITEMS TO BE DELIVERED TO YOUR CHILD - Attention Parents:
Just a reminder, if you need to drop off something for your child and school
has started, please come to the office and we will be sure to have your
child pick up the item. All visitors to the campus must check in at the
front office first. Please do not go to the classroom during
instructional time. Please make after school arrangements in the morning,
if there is an emergency or late change in plans, we will get a message to
your child. There may be times when the class is not in their room and the
message cannot be relayed.
NOTE REGARDING PICKING UP YOUR CHILD EARLY FROM SCHOOL - Attention Parents:
Please coordinate after school transportation with your child before your
child goes to school. This will alleviate disruptions during important
class time. If you have an emergency during school hours and you need to
contact your child, please call the main office and they will immediately
get a message to your child. If you need to pick up your child for a doctors
appointment or other personal business, please send your child to the office
with a written note stating what time your child needs to leave school so we
can issue a Student Off Campus Pass.
