About The Teacher

My name is Jeffrey Michael McGivern. I was born and raised in Hawaii and was
a student of Catholic Schools throughout my education. I am a Catholic
Christian and my parish is St. Anthony of Padua in Kailua. I teach 7TH and
8TH Grade catechism on Sunday mornings and I assist with the 2ND Year
Confirmation program on Sunday evenings. Monday through Friday you can find
me teaching at Maryknoll School: High School Division. I teach 9TH graders
Introduction To Catholic Christianity (Catholicism) and Morality. I teach
10TH graders Christology and Sacred Scriptures and the 11TH and 12TH Graders
World Religions.

I began at Maryknoll in 2003, as the High School Campus Minister and taught
part-time in the classroom.
My wife has been a Middle School teacher at Maryknoll Grade School for
the last 17 years. We have three wonderful children: Micah (12 years old),
Matthew (9 years old) and Malia (7 years old). All three of our children
attend Maryknoll Grade School. Feel free to contact me at any time with any
questions or concerns you may have. God bless you and have a wonderful day!

Mission For The Class

Christian Morality ~ Moral education is at the heart of Maryknoll School.
Christian morality at it's core is about love. The demands of love can be
very tough. All people, young and old are searching for love. Christian
morality often finds itself at odds with the values of our contemporary
society. Economic disparities, the powerless, insatiable consumerism, the
treatment of the old, dying and unborn, and addictions all come face to face
with the essential question for us all - what is the right thing to do?
Learning Christian morality is challenging, countercultural, life affirming
and an opportunity for our youth to define what they value, develop sound
moral decision making processes as they grow into young adulthood.
