All Band members should practice the following scales: F Concert Scale, E-flat Concert Scale, B-flat Concert Scale and the Chromatic Scale. The second year band students should be practicing the songs and exercises on page 12 in the Essential Technique book. Third and fourth year band students should be practicing the songs and exercises on page 38 of the Essential Technique book. They should be practicing the following songs for the Christmas Concert: Christmas Portrait, Huron Carol, In Dulci Jubilo and Jingle Bell Jazz. They should be practicing the following songs for the Hawaii Lutheran Schools Music Festival Concert: Monmouth Overture, Let Freedom Ring, Blues Machine, Andrew Lloyd Webber in Concert and Tunes That Go Bump in the Night. The clarinetists should regularly practice the “Warmups for Clarinet”. Flute players should regularly practice octave lip slurs as a warmup. Brass players should regularly practice "Lip Slurs 2" and "Lip Slurs 3". The percussionists should know how to play the following rudiments on the snare drum: flams, flam taps, flam accents, flamacues, flam paradiddles, paradiddles, double paradiddles, 5-stroke rolls, 7-stroke rolls and 9-stroke rolls.
