MRS. GUNDERMANN'S TOP 10 NEWS ITEMS - FOR NOVEMBER/DECEMBER
1. We're busily preparing for performances:
November 15, Sunday morning at 8:30: We'll sing with the 1-3rd graders for St. Mark's Sunday morning worship service.
December 13, Sunday afternoon at 5 p.m.: Our Christmas program. We'll be singing many carols and have a speaking part. The program is "What Color Is Christmas?" Grades 1-3 will also be participating.
Friends and relatives are invited.
2. Everyone is reading in a very old first grade basal reading book. There is reading homework nightly incluing a workbook page or reading paper. In addition, each child has or will have a "Book in the Bag" extra, supplementary reader to read, have a parent sign, and return for the next book. The Kindergartners arel also participating in Pizza Hut's Book It program from October through March.
3. For most of November, we'll focus on teen numerals with special homework to bring pictures containing 10-19 pictures. We continue to count groups and make numerals in preparating for addition and subtraction.
4. For Veterans' Day we wrote special letters and added our pictures. They were distributed to veterans at church on November 8.
5. Ronald McDonald will be viisitng on November 17. He always presents a wonderful program.
6. Excursions will be to fun places on the windward side, such as beach play at Kailua Beach and going to different playgrounds. We'll need drivers, please. Most are on Friday afternoons. We saw a wonderful opera production of "Cinderella" at the Hawaii Theatre. In December all of St. Mark will attend a concert at the Blaisdell Concert Hall.
7. In November we'll have special Thanksgiving activities and have "half a million reasons to be thankful every day."
8. We'll have a Christmas party, a Mexican posada. Refreshments will be needed. We'll also shop with our 8th grade chapel partners for needy windward Oahu keiki using chapel offerings.
10. There will be lots of art activities for autumn, Thanksgiving and Christmas.
