What do I need to do to be successful in science class?

BE IN YOUR SEAT ON TIME
BE PREPARED – DO YOUR WORK, HAVE YOUR MATERIALS 
   If you are prepared you can participate.
   Well prepared classmates learn from each other.
BE RESPECTFUL OF OTHERS AND YOURSELF

What do I do if I am absent?

MAKE UP WORK – If you are absent it is your responsibility to get 
assignments and make up the missed work.  You can get assignments 
from this web site at 6th grade agenda, see me or a classmate.  
All work is to be turned into the basket by the door.

What if I am late turning in an assignment?

LATE WORK – All work will be accepted for full credit up to 5 
days before the current grading quarter ends.  (Parent contacts 
will be made and possible non-school times will be arranged to 
complete work after any work is more than 3 days late.)  After 
the 5 day deadline prior to the end of the quarter, all 
uncompleted work will receive a failing grade.

What if I am not satisfied with the grade I earned on an assignment or lab?

REDO ASSIGNMENTS – All work may be attempted as many times as you 
desire for full credit.  New copies of sheets are available in 
the “Extras” folder.  Be sure it is turned in before the 5 day 
deadline.

What if I am not satisfied with the grade I earned on a test or quiz?

RETAKE TESTS OR QUIZZES – Quizzes and tests will be announced.  
There will be reviews of materials covered the day before a 
test.  You are encouraged to study.  Generally students who 
participate and work hard in class are successful on science 
tests and quizzes.  Notes and previous assignments will 
occasionally be allowed during tests and quizzes, so be sure to 
have your notebook up to date.  Have your notebook and folder 
with you at test time.  Arrangements with Mrs. Lister and your 
parents will need to be made to schedule a retake of 
a quiz or test during non-school time.  This will need to be done 
within 2 weeks of the original testing date.

Projects?

Projects are a fun way to learn.  You will need to be 
prepared to work on them in class as well as at home.

First homework assignment due before parent teacher conferences

Mrs. Lister

Students are to go to the homework link on the home page and 
print that page. Have parents acknowledge 
they have looked at and read all of the parts of my website by 
signing the bottom of this page.  If your family does not have a 
printer, parents may simply write a note saying they understand 
students can retake tests and quizzes as many times as they want 
within  2 weeks of the original test date.  Students can also 
redo any assignment as many times as they feel necessary until 
one week prior to the end of the quarter.  This assignment is not 
for a grade or extra credit but will be placed in the student’s 
file for parent/teacher conferences.

DO I HAVE TO HAVE A COMPUTER, INTERNET OR PRINTER AT HOME FOR SCIENCE?

NO! Arrangements will ALWAYS be made for those who do not have 
computers etc. at home.  If a problem arrises PLEASE let me know 
and we will take care of it.
