November is upon us!
November is here and with that comes a lot of new learning for students. The students are busy working on new concepts pertaining to fractions. Some students are working on multiplying fractions and mixed numbers while others are moving on to dividing fractions and another group has moved to how to change fractions to decimals. The students are using a new technology that we purchased called Accelarated Math which they can then access at home also, please see the letter students were given last week. They may work on assignments at home as well as see examples of problems and how to solve those problems. We will continue in this way so students are working on their individual needs. If you have any questions please feel free to call or email me.
In reading we are going to start a novel study in the coming weeks focusing on realistic or historical fiction. Students will be able to choose from 3 or 4 different novels and will then be a part of literature circles and will be discussing the characters, themes, plots and settings of their books.
In the next week we will be starting a unit on Plants and discussing Biomes and Ecosystems and moving into animals and how plants and animals are the same and different as well as how they both need each other to survive.
Our next social studies unit will be World War I and the students will be working on a Webquest and discovering new things that they will then share with the class with a final presentation.
I want to thank all the parents who have talked with their students about getting homework turned in on time! The late work has been greatly decreased the past few weeks. Thank you!
Next week is American Education Week and we will be having activities on each day to celebrate. The following is a calendar of events for the week:

Thursday 11/16: Parent Recognition, parents are invited to eat lunch with their students today. Remember to let the teacher know by Wed. the 15th so we can let the kitchen know.
