I am using the Bettendorf, Iowa Community School District SAIL (Talented and
Gitfted) Standards:
Grades 4-8 since that is where I teach.
Gifted and Talented Content Standard 1: (Orientation) The student will gain
an understanding of
program opportunities and responsibilities.
Benchmarks- The student will:
1. Explain and interpret his/her own abilities, interests, and areas of
strength.
2. Develop appropriate skills to interact effectively with peers and others.
Gifted and Talented Content Standard 1: (Individual Development) The student
will develop skills
necessary for life-long learning.
Benchmarks- The student will:
1.Demonstrate the organizational and productivity skills necessary for life-
long learning.
2. Learn a variety of technology skills.
Gifted and Talented Content Standard 3: (Enrichment) The student will
participate in a variety of
explorations and investigations.
Benchmarks- The student will:
1. Design and present group and individual enrichment activities.
2. Share results of enrichment activities in appropriate ways.
Gifted and Talented Content Standard 5: (In-Depth Study) The student will
apply complex thinking to
an in-depth study of a topic of personal interest, expressing conclusions in
a format of his/her
choice.
Benchmarks- The student will:
1. Select a passion area of their choice for an in-depth study.
2. Create a final presentation demonstrating the knowledge learned from
his/her in-depth study.
