American Government

3/18
Today in American Government we went over the "Innauguration."
For Monday students need to complete WB 76.
We will review on Monday and have a test on Ch. 13 on Tuesday.

Today in American Government students were assigned the last section (pg. 298-
304) of Ch. 12 on "Innauguration."  They should read it by tomorrow.
Reminder:  WB pg. 75 on the electoral college is due tomorrow.

Today in American Government we talked about "Election" of the President.  
For Thursday students need to complete WB pg. 75.  They can find information 
to complete the assignment by going to Wikipedia and search for "Electoral 
College."

Today in American Government students finished WB 73 and we completed WB 74 
in class.  For tomorrow students need to read 293-298.

Today in American Government we watched a video of some opening remarks from 
the debate on health care from the fall.
We also talked about the nomination process for presidential candidates.  For 
Monday students need to do WB pg. 73.

Today in American Government we began discussing the Presidency.  We talked 
about the qualifications for becoming President.
For tomorrow students need to read pg. 283-293.

Today in American Government students took their Ch. 12 test on "The Powers 
of Congress." 

For tomorrow students should begin reading Ch. 13 (pg. 280-282).

Today in American Government some of the students who completed the debt 
clock assignment shared some of the information they found.
We also reviewed for the test on Ch. 12 which is tomorrow.

Today in American Government students turned in their WB 71-72.  Their 
assignment for Monday is to do the Ch. 12 terms and content questions.
We will review ch. 12 on Monday and take the test on Tuesday.
Students who have not brought in their Debt Clock assignment should do so on 
Monday.

Today in American Government students were supposed to bring in their 
National Debt Clock assignment.
In class we analyzed a political cartoon related to "pork barrel" projects.
For tomorrow students need to complete WB 71-72.

Today in American Government we reviewed some of the terms from Ch. 12.  
Students are to complete WB 67-68 for tomorrow.  They had time to work on it 
in class.
Reminder:  The National Debt Clock assignment is due tomorrow.

Today in American Government students read pages 270-273 (a section which I 
accidently skipped in giving the reading assignments).
For tomorrow students need to complete the section review questions on pg. 
271 and 273.

Today in American Government we talked about the Enumerated Powers of 
Congress.  For Monday students need to read 273 to 276.
Students should also be working on the "National Debt Clock" assignment which 
is due on Wednesday.

Today in American Government students were given time to correct their tests 
from yesterday.
They must also complete the section review questions (1-8) on page 270 for 
tomorrow.

Today in American Government students took their Ch. 11 test.

Today in American Government students turned in WB pg. 65-66.  We also 
watched some Schoolhouse Rock videos about our government.  Students were 
given notecards and the essay topics for tomorrow's test.

Today in American Government the WB pg. 63 was due.
During class we completed the WB activity on pg. 64 about the process of a 
bill becoming a law.
For Monday students need to complete WB 65-66 and pg. 64 if they did not get 
it in yet.

Today in American Government we talked about "Legislative Workings."  For 
tomorrow students need to complete WB pg. 63 and they need to use outside 
sources (such as www.usa.gov) to complete the activity.
There will be a test on Ch. 11 on Tuesday.

Today in American Government students worked on wb pg. 59-62 about Alexis de 
Toqueville on Legislative Powers.  It will be due at the beginning of class 
tomorrow.
For tomorrow students also need to read pg. 253-260.

Today in American Government we began to go over "The Structure of 
Congress."  We talked about the "Constitutional Framework" of Congress.  For 
tomorrow students need to begin working on WB 59-62.  It will be due at the 
end of class tomorrow.  Students will have some class time tomorrow to 
complete it.

Today in American Government students turned in the assignment from Census 
lesson 8.  They finished the census unit by taking a quiz.

For Monday, students need to begin reading Ch. 11 on the Structure of 
Congress (pg. 242-252).

Today in American Government students turned in worksheet 7.  We went over 
Census lesson 8.  The worksheet for that lesson is due tomorrow.

Today in American Government we went over using cartograms to illustrate 
data.  The census worksheet 7 is due tomorrow.

Today in American Government students finished working on the census data to 
create maps.

2/4
Today in American Government students continued working on using maps to 
interpret census data by creating a map with data ranges using census data.
The 2-3 paragraph essay on their legislative district was due today.

Today in American Government students we worked on using maps to interpret 
census data.  Students are working on an exercise where they have to create a 
map with three data ranges using data from the census.
Reminder:  The 2-3 paragraph essay on their legislative district is due 
tomorrow.

Today in American Government students turned in Wksht 3 and 4 and the poster 
assignment that went with wksht 3. 
We went over Census lesson 5 about redistricting (drawing the district lines 
based on the apportionment of representatives following a census).  For 
Thursday students need to do the assignment on Wksht 5.  They need to write a 
2-3 paragraph essay on the items discussed on the wksht regarding their 
congressional district. (District 1 - Walt Minnick).

Today in American Government we went over Census Lesson 4.  
For tomorrow students need to complete Wksht 4 and bring in the materials to 
finish the assignment for Wksht 3.

 

   


Students in American Government can get extra credit points when they bring 
in their voter registration card.
