Class time is provided for all lessons and activities to be completed in
class. There may be occasions when a student must bring home unfinished
classwork to complete and return to school the next day.

The Assignment Board is reviewed at the end of every day and students are
responsible for making sure they have all necessary materials needed for
unfinished classwork.

Reading Comprehension strategies are used in all curricular areas. Writing
pieces are assigned weekly and work time in class is provided for
brainstorming, rough draft work, editing and revision and publishing.
Computer Lab time is allocated for word processing and other Writing
activities.

The Scientific Process and data collection and analysis are areas of emphasis
in our curriculum.

Our current Social Studies unit of study is the peoples and culture of the
Medieval world.

Math instruction continues to be differentiated to meet the needs of each
student. Daily work is assigned specific to each classroom teacher.
Students are responsible for recording daily work assignments written on the
classroom assignment board each Math day.

Spelling word lists are differentiated and varied. Each student is
responsible for the daily & weekly Spelling activities and mastering word
patterns, derivations, etc. to use in everyday writing and spelling.

All assignments are recorded on the classroom assignment board, are announced
as they are added and are reviewed at the end of each day. STUDENTS are
responsible for THEIR OWN WORK and making effective use of class time.

Making Good choices in and out of the classroom is a top priority for 6th

The high academic and behavioral expectations are in keeping with our
rigorous core curriculum and PBIS practices.
