Mrs. Lane loves science: how things work, why things happen, how living
things are connected, and how people can make an impact in our world. This is
her 11th year teaching and she enjoys teaching seventh grade.
Mrs. Lane lives in Belvidere where she grew up. She is married to Mr.
Lane who also teaches 7th grade. She has one sister and brother-in-law who
live in Indianapolis, IN. She has two nephews named Clayton (who is the
wildest mover and shaker around) and Cullen (whose smiles warms my heart)!
Her parents live in Belvidere when they aren't travelling in their
retirement! She also has a cat named Montana who keeps her company and two
large black labs named Kosmo and Puddy!
Mrs. Lane enjoys staying in shape mentally and physically to train
for triathlons and other races in the summer. She also enjoys camping, kayaking, running, hiking,
doing triathlons, going to church, travelling, doing yard work, watching movies, and eating ice
cream!
To help students understand scientific concepts in a way that they can
actually use them in the real world and apply them to everyday situations. We
will accomplish this through a variety of techniques:
*hands-on labs and other activities
*regular assessment of gained knowledge and skills
*open ended response questions (i.e. How does one achieve mechanical
advantage in a pulley system?, Explain the difference between positive
and negative buoyancy., What are the effects of glaciers on Illinois?)
*students will use their basal knowledge to create projects that
demonstrate their complete understanding of a concept
