For your information:

Due to the requirements we have regarding checks being cut for the zoo, parking and busses, students who earn detentions on, or after, Thursday, May 24th, which eliminates them from going to the zoo will not be eligible for a refund.

Things to think about for the zoo:

All school rules apply on this trip including no electronics.  Students will be asked to leave cell phones, cameras and music devices in their lockers for the trip and will pick them up when we get back.  A better choice would be to leave them at home for the day.

Dress for the weather.  Mornings along Lake Michigan can be windy and cool and develop into heat later on.

Layering will help students cope with the changes. The bus ride can be extremely hot.

Food:  bring a sack lunch and if desired, additional money for extras.  We have encountered raw pizzas and undercooked hamburgers as the zoo staff try to feed large groups.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dear Parents,

The end of the school year is quickly approaching! The 7thgrade team has planned several end of the year activities in which we would like your child to participate.

Friday, June 1st, Reward’s Day Field Trip

Those students who exhibited good character and decision making during 4th quarter will be eligible to attend a trip to the Milwaukee Zoo!

We will be boarding the bus, with our sack lunches, around8:15and head north of the Illinois border to the beautiful Milwaukee County Zoo. It is highly recommended that students bring a sack lunch. In the past the lines have been very long for the food service, and as a result, the food was not thoroughly cooked, nor did they then have enough time to enjoy all the aspects of the zoo. Students may bring a backpack to carry their lunches in while traveling throughout the zoo.

If students are interested in purchasing any food or souvenirs, they will need to bring extra money.

If a student is absent from school on this day, or arrives after the busses have departed, they cannot receive a refund. The check for the zoo will have already been processed by that time.

Monday, June 4th- Farewell breakfast:

During the morning on that last day of school, students will enjoy a breakfast served by the 7thgrade teachers and other staff before they get their report cards and head into summer!

The total cost for all activities is $ 15.00

The requirement for participation in Reward’s Days is determined by the number of detentions a student has received and if they received any in school or out of school isolations.

Students will be ineligible to attend this field trip if they have received 3 or more detentions this quarter, or if they have received or do receive a suspension of any kind. If your child has already received a suspension or three detentions during 4thquarter, or if they receive one prior to the field trip, the cost is $3.00 to participate in the farewell breakfast.

If your child is not planning on attending the field trip to the zoo, but will be participating in the farewell breakfast, the cost is also $3.00. Please let us know in writing if your child is not going to be joining us for the zoo fieldtrip.

Please return byMay 18th, 2012

·      $15.00 cash or check made out to Big Hollow School. Please include your child’s name with payment.

April 16, 2012

Dear Students, Parents, and/or Guardians,

The end of the school year is quickly winding down, and summer is just around the corner. The teachers have planned wonderful activities for the last two days of school, before we leave on June 4th. We just want to remind you that detentions (3 or more) and suspensions, of any kind, will result in students being removed from end of the year activities. Being ineligible for an activity will result in students being put in a supervised setting doing work. We would truly hate for anyone to have to miss out onanyof the year end activities due to poor behavior.

Students- Keep all this in mind when a situation arises and make good choices!

We look forward to wrapping up what has been a great year!
