It's been a great year in First Grade!
Parents--thank you for ALL of your support this year! I appreciate all of the time you've spent working with your child at home to support concepts we've learned in class.   

Please take note of the important announcements below:

**Please note that your child still needs to bring a lunch to school or order hot lunch on Friday, June 1st. Our Picnic will be an additional treat at the end of the school day. Thank you VERY much for all of the juice box donations! We now have plenty!
Thank You!!!  

Homework
There will be no more homework for the rest of the school year! We are also finished with reading logs. There will no longer be an Assignments Sheet in your child's yellow folder. Please continue to read at home with your child so that his/her reading skills can continue to grow.

1st Grade Picnic
On Friday, June 1st we will be having our 1st Grade Picnic. This is an event just for the students and teachers so we can have one last fun hurrah together before the year ends. We will be providing hotdogs, chips, and popsicles.

ABC COUNTDOWN

Tues. May 29th:       4 – Go Crazy 4 school – Crazy hair day 

Wed. May 30th:       3- Be Patriotic – Wear the 3 colors of USA – red, white, blue

Thurs. May 31st:      2 – Wear 2 wacky socks

Fri. June 1st:          1-Dance Party – music played over the intercom to signal                               dance party moments

Mon. June 4th:        SUMMER!

Registration Forms Are Now Online!

The student registration forms for School Year 2012-13 are now available online. Click here to access the registration page or on the “Parents” tab at the top of this page. A packet of pre-printed registration documents is available by contacting the school district office.

The deadline for registering students at the current fee is Friday June 15. 

In addition, Big Hollow is now accepting registration fee payments online. Click here, or the e-Funds link on the grade level registration pages, to access the online payment system.



Big Hollow Warrior Wristbands

If your child would like to purchase a super cool "Big Hollow Wariors" wristband, please print out the order form below and send it in to school. They are only $3! All proceeds will go toward first grade activities.

Reading Logs:
The monthly Book-It Reading Logs that have been coming home this year have now ended with the March log. During April and May your child will be completing reading logs that go along with the 1st Grade Reading Night theme, "Lights, Camera, Action, READ!." There are five logs. Each log requires your child to read 5 books/chapters. Once a log is complete, your child can turn it in and he/she will get a new one. To keep a good pace that will allow you to finish on time, your child should complete at least one log a week. All five logs need to be read by mid-May. An informational note went home with the first log (popcorn) today 4/4/12.

Other Reminders:

**Please Notice:
Due to the new dismissal time and double bus run schedules, the office will call down students that are being picked up at 3:40 pm. However, most days at that time we are still returning from our end of the day specials class (Library or Art), and still need to return to the classroom and gather our belongings. If your child doesn’t come down to the office with the initial rush of “pick-ups” please do not panic. I will send down my students that are pick-ups as soon as they are ready (usually right when the bell rings at 3:45). They will all walk down together. Please be patient. Thank you! J 

 


   **Please remember to view this week's classroom newsletter that is posted under the "Classroom Newsletters" tab.**  

  • **I highly suggest sending in an extra pair of old clothing for your child to keep at school in case of any accidents during the day or mishaps at lunch/recess. If you choose to send in an extra pair of clothing I will put it in a Ziplock bag, label it, and it will stay in your child's cubby. This clothing will be returned to you at the end of the school year.

*Important Information*
When sending in snacks for your child; please do not send
in any items with nuts or peanut butter in them.  We have students that are allergic to these items. I'm sorry for any inconvenience, but it is very important for the safety of these students. Thank you!
