Homework Policies

This year there will be weekly homework that will be sent home on Friday and is to be returned on the following Thursday.  The homework will include Spelling, Math, Grammar and Reading Comprehension. Occasionally extra assignments that were not completed in class or that were missed due to absence will also be sent home for homework. Please keep in mind that the homework is practice directly from skills we are learning in class. Homework will reinforce those concepts we work on all week.  If your child is having difficulty or does not understand a concept or skill please let me know and I can work with him/her further.

If your child has had difficulty with a concept and receives a paper that needs corrections, it will be noted at the top of the page.  Corrections should be made and returned when completed.
Homework will come home in a separate folder that is labeled "Homework". Please look for the Homework folder that will be sent home each Friday. The Homework folder will have a labeled DONE section with completed/graded work and a section labeled TO DO. Please try to keep these sections separate. It's easier for you and me!

Reading is very important, so I ask that you have your child read 20 minutes per day. This should be a fun activity, so you can read with them or even to them. I have included some reading tips that you may find useful under "Parent Tips" on this website.  Check it out! I find these tips useful with my own children.
