All About Me

Hi! I'm Maria Finn and I am very happy to be teaching your child here
at Big Hollow School. There are so many interesting things to learn about
in 3rd grade! I am extremely confident that it will be an enjoyable and
memorable experience for us all. I was born and spent most of my childhood
in Chicago, IL. I am proud to say that I still have a few friends from 1st
grade! Currently, my husband Tom and I live in McHenry, IL, with our 2
children, Devin 13 and Brittany 12, and a golden retriever named Heidi. I am
fluent in Italian, so don't be surprised if your child learns a few phrases
like "Buon Giorno" (Good Morning) or "Ciao" (Good-bye). I attended
Northeastern Illinois University and proudly received my Bachelors of Arts
degree in Elementary Education in 2003, with a minor in psychology. Besides
my passion for teaching, my interests and hobbies include reading (I love a
good mystery!) and sewing. Also, I really love to travel with my family and
learn about new places. I look forward to having a great school year!

Mission For The Class

I want all my students to gain a deep appreciation for learning and believe
that learning is a lifelong adventure that really can be fun. The learning
environment in my classroom is one where every student (including the
teacher) shows mutual respect and support towards one another. I will
provide a safe learning environment where every student is challenged to do
their best and reach their full learning potential.
