How many children are in the class?
There are currently 27 children in the class.
What can I bring in for birthday snack?
Our Classroom is a nut-Free Environment!
Any kind of finger food is great. I try to have treats for those
who have food allergies if needed. Please remember that all treats must have
nutritional information on the packaging. No homemade treats.
When do you do birthday treats?
Our snack time is at 10:40 Monday thru Friday. Snack time is
dictated by our specials schedule. Monday thru Friday we have time right after
lunch at 1:10.
Do you need help in the classroom?
I always welcome volunteers into my classroom. Even if you can
only help once in a while, your help is appreciated. If I do not
have anything on the day you are in, we check with the other
teachers that I plan with to see if there is anything else the
team needs. The art teacher is always looking for help in
hanging art work as well.
What time is lunch and recess?
Lunch goes from 12:30 to 12:50. Recess begins at 12:50 and ends at 1:10.
If you need to pick your child up for an appointment
please make it before 12:30 or after 1:10. It is hard sometimes
to find the student if they are on the playground or at lunch.
What are the rules with distributing birthday treats?
Students may have treats for the class (27 students). They are
allowed to go to the other 4th grade teachers (12 teachers
including Mrs. Denovo, Ms Winandy, Mrs. Cosman, Mrs. Arritola, and Mrs.
Hastings). Students are also permitted to go to the office and specials
teachers. Students are not allowed to go to other grade level teachers as this
is too much of a distraction to their classrooms.
What snacks are acceptable for daily snacks?
Our Classroom is a nut-Free Environment! I do not provide snacks for the class so please be sure your student has a healthy snack every day.
Healthy snacks include but are not limited to crackers, pretzels, fruits and vegetables.
Cookies and potato chips are not healthy snacks. Students will not be allowed to take these from their lunches if they forget a snack.
If you are sending a snack that requires a spoon or fork, please send one in with the snack.
What do you mean by a nut-free environment?
There are students in 4th grade who are highly allergic to
nuts. Because of this, we are making our classroom nut-
free so that those children can come into our classroom for
reading and math if needed. This means that any food that is to
be opened / eaten, cannot contain nuts in any form. The students can have
food which contains nuts in the cafeteria
for lunch as long as it does not come back into the classroom.
If there is an item containing nuts in their lunch, the lunchbox must remain
closed while in the classroom.
