Homework

Vacations

Per the Illinois School code, removing a child from school for the purpose of taking a family vacation is not a "valid cause" for absence. Therefore, teachers will not be responsible for preparing assignments prior to the vacation, and all make-up work must be completed within five (5) school days of the student’s return.

Homework (Math, Spelling, and Reading Logs)

We will be practicing and learning a variety of concepts this year.  Some will be easy and some more difficult.  In order for your child to understand and remember these concepts, additional practice and guidance may be necessary.  Unless it is a day that we take a math test or quiz, I will send home your child’s homework folder everyday with a worksheet to be completed that evening for homework.  This way you are able to see which concepts will need additional practice at home.  Spelling will be sent home on Fridays and will be due back the following Friday.  The completed work is to be returned to school in your child’s homework folder.  When we start reading logs in October, they will also be sent home to be competed.  Reading logs are counted on your child’s report card.
