How early can I drop off my child? How late can I pick him up?
If you need to drop off your child in the morning, the earliest
you may do so is 8:45 am. The latest you can pick up your child
is 3:45 pm.
What time of the day should I drop off birthday treats?
Birthday treats can be dropped off in the office any time of the
day, however, we don't celebrate birthdays until 2:10 pm. We
have 19 children in our class. Please make sure to only send in
non-food items for treats. These can be goodie bags, small prizes,
pencils, erasers, or stickers. Thank you for your understanding in this
matter. This will help us to be active participants in Big Hollow Wellness Initiative.
What is the procedure if my child is going to be absent?
Please call the front office to let them know your child won't be
at school. The office is open from 8:00 to 4:00. The phone number
is (847)740-5320. I will gather homework and send it home with your
child when they return to school.
What if there is a change in my child's transportation for the day?
Please notify the office by phone or by sending a note in your
child's daily home folder if there is a change in
transportation. Please note* If the office is not notified, your
child will take his/her normal route!
What do I do if I want to eat lunch with my child at school?
Our first grade house eats lunch from 11:40 - 12:00. Please sign yourself in
with the office.
How does the hot lunch program work?
The school has contracted Arbor Food Management for the food
service again this year. You can purchase a lunch ticket for ten or
twenty days. You may also buy a lunch daily. Milk tickets are
also available for purchase or white/chocaloate milk may be
bought daily.
Hot lunches will begin Monday, August 29th.
What should I be practicing with my child at home?
READ, READ, READ! Reading is the number one area that needs to
be practiced with your child, no matter what their reading
level. Read to them, have them read to you, explore different
genres, go to the library, make it fun!
