What is the classroon discipline system in your room?

In our classroom we have a few systems of discipline. Our main system is
called the Ladder of Success. Each day, your child will start out of the
3rd step of the ladder. If a student makes a poor choice, he/she will move down
the ladder, which is simply a warning. If they continue making poor choices
later in the day, they will move down the ladder again and a note will be
sent home to inform you of the situation. In addition, if your child shows
excellent behavior, he or she will move up the ladder and get a sticker. If
they again show excellent behavior, they will reach the top of the ladder
and get to choose out of the prize bin!

Can I send a birthday treat for my child?

If you wish, you may send a birthday treat for your child to share with the
class. These may be dropped off in the office or sent with your child.
Individual treats are the best way to go. If you need napkins or plates
please send them. No drinks please. We will typically eat them in the
afternoon. PLEASE DO NOT SEND TREATS WITH NUTS due to student allergies. If your child's
birthday is over the summer we can celebrate
their half birthday or celebrate at the end of the year. In addition, please
be courteous of other childrens feelings and DO NOT pass out birthday
invitations during school hours unless everyone in the class is invited.

What is the school reading program?

The school has established a positive reading program. In your
child's take home folder, you will find a monthly calendar for you and your
child to keep track of the minutes they are reading. At the end of the
month, send the reading log back to school and if your child has met his or her
monthly goal, he/she will receive a prize. Please encourage your
child to read each night.

What should I send with my child for snack?

We will be having snack in our classroom each afternoon. Please make sure
your child is given a snack, even if they are receiving hot lunch that day.
The snack must be a healthy choice such as granola bars, veggies, fruit,
pretzels, crackers, etc. It should be simple and easy to eat in a
short period of time. No juice drinks please, water only
