The Big Hollow Nature Center

Nature Center Revitalization Project

The Big Hollow Nature Center will be beginning it's second season of projects shortly. The Big Hollow Nature Center Committee, headed up by Michelle Connolly and Letitia Carter, started the process to clean up and enhance the Nature Center last spring. Our ultimate goal is to create an outdoor classroom where students, staff, and the Big Hollow community can come and interact with a variety of plants, trees and wildlife. Last year Baxter Corporation generously volunteered to support the clean-up efforts with local volunteers and tools, gloves, and other equipment for the students and volunteers to use. We are looking forward to a spring kick-off with both students and local companies pitching in to help complete the second half of our project.

Last season these local companies donated to our center:
Alberts Land Design, Inc.
Jewel (Fox Lake and Round Lake)
Ace Hardware (Fox Lake)
Target (Mundelein, Gurnee, and Johnsburg)
Home Depot (Johnsburg, Mundelein, Gurnee, Round Lake, and Volo)
