I grew up in the Chicago suburbs and attended Northern Illinois University.
I graduated from NIU in 1984 with a B.S. in Elementary Education. I
continued at NIU in the graduate program full-time, receiving my M.S. in
Elementary Education and Special Education in 1985. My areas of endorsement
in special education are Educable Mentally Handicapped, Learning Disabled,
Behavior Disordered, and Preschool Handicapped. I am certified by the state
of Illinois to teach grades preschool to 12 in special education, and grades
preschool to 9 in elementary education. Prior to my assignment at BSS, I
taught in a 5th and 6th grade resource room, kindergarten, special ed.
preschool, and K-8 resource room. I also was fortunate to have the
opportunity to do substitute teaching at The International School of Geneva
in Geneva, Switzerland.
I have been blessed with a wonderful family. My parents live close by and
we are lucky to see them often. My husband, Bill, and I have been married
since 1986 and have four ch6ldren. Bethany is 18 and is a freshman at
Augustana College. Dan is 15 and a junior at Morton High School. Mike is 14
and is a freshman at MHS, and Joey is in the eighth grade at BSS and is 13
years old. All the children are active in the Blessed Sacrament community,
and the boys are also kept busy with Boy Scouts. As a family, we enjoy being
outdoors as much as we can. We love to camp, hike, downhill ski, swim, and
hang out in our backyard. I also enjoy crafts and cross-stitching.
I continue to be excited about creating Blessed Sacrament's very first
preschool! When my own children were ready to begin preschool, I wished
that Blessed Sacrament offered a preschool. Finally, we are fortunate to
have a wonderful facility and plenty of room for our preschool! God has
richly blessed our parish and I am very glad to be a part of this special
place called Blessed Sacrament!
Our preschool class is a safe place where children feel comfortable to grow,
learn and explore. We practice many skills and learn many new things, but
most of all, we have lots of fun!! Everything that we learn in our class is
taught through play. Play is a child's "work", and children learn best when
things are fun. So, when your children tell you that they spent the
day "playing", they are telling you the truth!
