Rules and Consequences

Rules

  1. Listen when your teacher is talking
  2. Follow directions quickly
  3. Keep your hands and feet to yourself
  4. Raise your hand to speak or stand
  5. Be safe, be kind, be honest

Consequences

Research shows that focusing on good choices can greatly improve student behavior. For the remainder of the year we are going to use a behavior system which focuses more on the positive rather than the negative. The new system will use a clip which allows students to move up as well as down. This gives students the chance to turn their day around.

Each day everyone’s clip will start on green as before. Students choose whether they move up or down based on the choices they make. The picture at the left shows what this chart will look like.

If your student ends on yellow this is just a warning color, like our blue before. Teacher’s choice (orange) could be one of many things depending on the students’ choices. This could mean a time out during centers or recess. It could also be a loss of another privilege. If your student gets on red for the day I will contact you to discuss why.

If your child gets on purple at the end of the day, they earn a jeweled sticker to put on their clip. If their clips get full of jewels they get to “retire” their clip to the Clip Hall of Fame and will get a new clip. This is something that I hope all the students will be working toward.
