I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving Break. The kids seemed to have lots
of great stories!
The next three weeks will be very busy while we are trying to wrap up units
before Christmas Break.
Our Christmas Party will be held on Dec. 19 @ 1pm.
A note is also being sent home Tuesday about a Secret Santa gift exchange we
will be doing within the class during the week of Dec. 15-19. If you have any
questions, please let me know!

This week we are beginning Stanford 10 testing on Tues. Wed. and Thurs. We
also have a science and math "regular" test! There will be no spelling this
week!
Our Springfield Trip is coming up soon! Tuesday, October 7, 2008! Please
look over the letter to ensure you have everything!

We did a fun experiment in science today with sand, water, and a blow dryer!
Ask your child what he learned today! The kids had a great time!

Grandparent's Day went great! Thank you to everyone who helped! And thank

Well, our first week is over! Globe making went wonderful with help from
Candi Riecks and Glenn Vines! They turned out super and painting them on
Monday should be fun!
We had Friday Fun for the first time today and all the kids participated!
Luckily it stoped raining and cleared up in time for us to go outside!
The kids all did a team building activity today and did fantastic! They can
tell you all about it!
Thank you to everyone who came to Open House! It was great to meet all of
you!
Just a couple reminders!
*We are painting globes on Monday! Please send a shirt you don't mind them
getting dirty!
*Grandparent interviews are due by Sept. 2.
*Grandparent RSVP's are due by Sept. 3.

Summer is coming to an end and school will be starting in about a week! How
exciting! I am looking forward to meeting each of my new students! Please
bring a picture or pictures of fun things you did this summer so we can put
them up in the classroom!

Testing is over! YAY! The kids did a terrific job! I was so proud of their
hardworking attitudes all week! Also, thanks for all the delicious treats
and
drinks that were brought in this week! The kids really enjoyed eating snacks
throughout the day!
Today is the end of 3rd quarter! Report cards will be coming home next
Friday
with a sign off sheet attached. Please sign and return! Any questions or
concerns, please contact me!
I will be at the Illinois Reading Conference on Thursday and Friday next
week! Because of this, I will send home behavior slips on Monday!

I hope you all had a terrific break! I seemed to be the perfect length! I
greatly appreciated the mall gift card and the wickless candle! I bought a
new coat and the candle smells great!
The kids did an excellent job today working and focusing! What a great
class!
I know the rest of this year will be wonderful!
There was a sheet sent home about a new SchoolReach communication system
beginning this January! I am sending home another sheet for you to fill out
if you have not done so already! Please get this back to me as soon as
possible so your name and number can be entered into the system!
We have started a new unit in Science and in Social Studies this week. There
will be no spelling this week!
Report cards will be coming home this Friday! Please sign the attached sheet
and contact me with any concerns or questions!

Interim Reports will be going out on Monday Nov. 26! Please sign these and

If anyone is interested in helping us get started on a Christmas project,
please contact me!
If you have not signed the green permission slip for your child to have
their
work, name, and picture in the district newsletter or not to, please do as
the first edition will be coming out this week!

Remember: No School on Thursday and Friday Nov. 22 and 23 for Thanksgiving
Break!
We will be starting a project for Christmas and will need parent volunteers

Great job students! We had an amazing 105 people show up at the blood drive
and received 90 pints of blood! Wonderful! And our class WON the pizza
party!
Friday at 2:30 our class will be enjoying delicious Monicals pizza for all
our hard work recruiting donors! WOW!
Conferences will be coming up next Monday and Tuesday. Let me know if you
will not be able to make your time.
We made landfills in class this week! Be sure to ask your child what are the
different layers in a landfill!
Nov. 9 is Fall Break! Enjoy your day!

Conference schedules will be coming out this Friday with report cards. If

Our 1st Ever Eastlawn Blood Drive is coming up on Oct. 29! Please consider
donating as it can save up to 3 lives! Also, we could win a pizza party if
our class has the most donors!

your 1st, 2nd, and 3rd choices down and return by Oct. 26!

Stanford 10 testing ends on Monday! YAY!

9/23 We will be going to Springfield next Wednesday Oct. 3! Details will be
coming home this week with more information!
The students will be taking the Stanford 10 tests Wednesday, Thursday,
Friday
of this week. Monday and Tuesday of the following week. Make sure to get a
good night sleep and eat breakfast!
9/14 We have had a very busy week with many different things going on! We
have finished our first unit in social studies and will now be starting
science on Monday!
Interims will be coming on Thursday Sept. 21st. There will be no science
grades because we will be starting Monday Sept. 17th. If you have any
questions about this, please let me know!
9/7 It was great to see so many grandparent's today! The kids did a terrific
job singing! Have a great weekend!
9/3 Grandparent interviews are due on Sept. 4. Please return interviews as
soon as possible as we will be using this information for Grandparent's Day!

We will begin switching for Math on Wednesday. A note will go home Wednesday
evening about your child's teacher. Please let me know about any questions
you may have.
8/24 The 1st Friday Fun was on Friday August, 24! Everyone attended Friday
Fun this week! It was a great first few days!
Grandparent interviews were handed out on Friday for students to interview
their grandparents. The interviews are due back on or before Sept. 4.
Next week will be our first full week! We will begin switching for reading
classes on Monday. Notes will go home Monday evening about your child's
teacher and their expectations. If you have any questions regarding reading,
please email me or their reading teacher.
8/22 It was great to see all the parents at Open House! Thanks for coming

No School on Sept. 3 for Labor Day!
Grandparent's Day is on September 7! Please plan to come around 1:45! The
students will be performing several songs for you and then taking you back
to their classrooms for treats! Hope to see you!
