This will be my 38th year in education (boy am I old!!!!), the last 28 in
this district. I earned my Bachelor of Science degree in Early Childhood
Education from Northeastern Illinois University and my Masters in Curriculum
and Instruction from National Louis University. In addition to 1st grade, I
have taught 2nd, 5th, 6th and self-contained primary LD. I love first
graders because of their eagerness to learn and their thirst for knowledge.
It is so much fun to watch them go from dependent, quiet, unsure little ones
to independent, curious, confident learners. I truely enjoy being their
guide on this journey!!
Besides teaching at Greenbrook I also teach for the Department of Teaching
and Learning at Northern Illinois University. This is the seventh year I
have taught there and it's quite a change.....6 year olds by day and how to
teach 6 year olds by night!!!!
I have one daughter, Lauren, who graduated from Western Illinois University
in December 2001 and earned her Master's degree in Criminal Justice with a
certificate in Forensic Science from University of New Haven in Connecticut
in 2005. I enjoy reading, sewing, cooking, traveling and antiquing in my
spare time.
The mission of my class is to enjoy the journey towards knowledge and to
respect all others. Think of others and treat them in a way we would like
to be treated.
