Homework

Welcome back to an exciting year. Of course there will be some work that will
come home to be finished, but I try to keep it to a minimum! Students will
have spelling words to practice each evening! They have special cards to go
over 3 times and that's it. They take a pretest, so they only practice the
words that they didn't know how to spell. They have only 10 words on each
list, so usually they only have a few words to practice. As soon as they pass
a list, they go right on to a new list. Students should be able to get
through 2 or 3 lists per week!

I try to do math practice with the students while we are in class. I like to
be able to watch them practice, so that I can help them help themselves. They
need to be able to catch their errors and try to fix them with a guiding
hand. But there will be some math work that will find its way home
occasionally.

There may be a few odds and ends that come home from social studies
especially if a test is coming, but usually Mrs. Gracious and I try to get as
much done at school as possible.

Please call me any time that you need to if you have any questions,or you can
write in the student's assignment books. Each child will be taught how to
fill out their assignment book LEGIBLY and correctly every day. We also
initial each assignment that has been completed. If the assignment has no
initials, then it was not completed and needs to be finished at home! It's an
easy system and it works! We also make sure that each student has the needed
materials for their assignments!

We are hopeful that we will have an after school program on Tuesdays and
Thursdays starting sometime in October, but it all depends on grant money. We
have bus service for those students that stay. It is free to our students and
it really helps the students get some extra help!

Here's to a great learning year!
