  2. Does my child really have to stay in at recess for a late assignment?
  3. Will I have to sign the Study Skills Binder (SSB) all year long?

Does my child have to do Accelerated Reader?

Only if he or she chose this as an option for the Quarter-long
contract. Sometimes I require students to take an AR test if we
have read a novel as part of our reading class, and then I use
the AR test for a grade.

Does my child really have to stay in at recess for a late assignment?

The consequence for late or missing work is a lowered grade, if
it is a graded paper, and paying one full recess. Responsibility
is key for success.

Will I have to sign the Study Skills Binder (SSB) all year long?

No - most students are responsible in recording and doing
homework themselves so I don't require it after the mid-term
point of the first quarter. However, if a student consistently
has late assignments, I will ask you to check the SSB each
evening and continue to sign until the student improves in the
area of responsibility.
