Math

Current Unit:
Chapter 6: Integers.  Students have been working on operations of integers (positive and negative whole numbers).  They have also learned to use the distributive property as well as the coordinate plane.  There will be a test on Chapter 6 on Monday, March 16th.
Chapter 7: Equations is our next chapter.  Students will learn one and two-step equations, variables, and inequalities.

Homework:
The math homework grade is as follows: students who earn an A or B on their homework receive a score of a 2.  Students who earn a C or lower on their homework receive a score of a 1.  Those students then are required to complete their corrections for homework and return them to school the following school day.  They should be on loose leaf, neatly done, and stapled to the original work.  If the corrections are done correctly and show all of the work required, then their homework grade will be raised to a score of 2 for the assignment.  Students who do not complete their corrections will receive a missing assignment and their homework grade will remian a 1.  Every student has the opportunity to receive a 100% homework grade

ISATs:
They are getting closer!  We will be working on Math Extended Response questions.  Students will be asked to solve a math problem and then explain the steps they took to solve the problem.  They will need to write out each step they took and give their reasoning for taking the step.  You can help your child practice these by having them explain one of the problem they have for homework.  Remind them it is important to use math terminology in their explanations!
