Dear Parents

As salam Alaikum

With the beginning of third Quarter  you will see a slight shift toward Kindergarten preparation. The children will have their journal writing that will need to be finished before they are able to go about their normal pre-k day.
We will 
also have more frequent small group reading and reflection activities. 
These activities will be fun and will incorporate the children’s own desired topics

This Week, Insha Allah

Theme: Snow Fun

Letter Of The Week: R(Recognition and related vocabulary)

Number 15, 16(recognition, formation and counting)

We will spend this week of January on our Winter/snow Unit. We will freeze animals in ice cubes and watch the ice cubes melt and release the animals at our water tub center.

 

Language Arts:  We will review concepts of print. When writing at home, please have your child use proper letter case. reading rhyming words with short vowel sounds e.g pan , fan, bug, rug
 

During the month of January, we will review all the letters that were introduced so far and add new letters.
We are very impressed with the progress our friends are making!

 

Maths: In Math, we will be graphing the weather, working with the calendar, counting by 1’s, 2s!

Naming the four seasons, scissor skills, measuring length of objects using   non-standard units of measure, sequencing pictures to tell a story, using picture clues to predict what will happen next in a story, making patterns, throwing objects at a target, copying shapes, skipping, galloping, throwing and catching a bal

Things to Practice at Home

Please continue practicing name writing at home. Most of the children are working on their first and last names.

Please continue to practice letter recognition and letter sounds at home. The letters we have covered so far are L, X, F, O, T, M, K, N, I, D, C and J. Also, please make sure that your child can recognize the numbers 0-10.

If your child has not memorized his/her address and phone number, please continue to work on this.

Arabic: We learned the letter Raa and did some activities using vocabulary words starting with the letter Raa .We read a story about the letter Raa. We are learning new vocabulary with the letter Raa:Rajul (man) Raas(head ) ŮŚRamel(sand) Reesh (feather). We also learned the number 3-Thalatha!
