Classroom Policies:

Homework

  • Homework is essential to mastering the topics covered in this course.  Homework will be assigned and checked in every day.
  • There will be approximately ten problems assigned each night.
  • Each assignment is worth ten points.  Homework will be graded on accuracy.
  • Homework is to be done on loose-leaf paper and in pencil.  The original problem along with all necessary work is to be shown.  It must be in your binder.

Binder Checks

  • Binder checks will be completed on the day of each chapter exam.
  • The binder will count as a part of your homework grade.
  • A rubric for binder checks will be provided.

Participation

  • Students will receive a participation card at the beginning of each week.  Each school day is worth 5 points.
  • Inappropriate classroom behaviors will result in loss of points (a hole punch in the card).
  • Participation points will be applied to the grade at the end of each week.
  • If a participation card is lost, a zero will be given for each day of the week preceding the day the card is replaced.
  • Unexcused absences will result in a zero for the day in participation.
  • In class activities will be graded for accuracy and recorded in the participation category.

Extra Help

Coming in for extra help when needed is strongly recommended.  I will be at school by 7:00 AM each day and will stay after school as well.  My office hours are before school on Thursdays from 7:00 – 7:50 AM.  You can find me in room E120.

Make-Up Work

You will have a folder in the room with your name on it.  It is your responsibility to check this folder daily before the bell rings for your absent work.  You are responsible for obtaining notes from the day you were absent from your shoulder buddy.  You will have one day plus the number of absent days to make up missing assignments.  Quizzes and tests must be made up within one week of original test date.

Cheating

Cheating WILL NOT be tolerated.  The first time a student is caught cheating; he/she will receive a zero.  The second time will result in an F for the quarter.  The third time will result in an F for the semester.

Quiz/Test Make-up Policy

If you are absent the day before a quiz or a test is given, you will be expected to take it the day they return.  If multiple days are missed, you will have more time to make it up.  A quiz or a test missed due to an unexcused absence will be made up on the day you return.  A quiz or a test not made up within one week of the original test date will be recorded as a zero.

Test Re-Take Policy

One test can be retaken each quarter.  The maximum grade that can be achieved is an 80%.  The second score will be recorded.  You will have one week to retake a test. Quizzes can not be retaken.
