I am a proud 1989 graduate of Lincoln-Way Central High School and was
thrilled to have been given the opportunity in 1997 to come back to teach at
my Alma Mater. I am married and have three children (Morgan 8, Cameron 6,
and Drew 2 1/2). Becoming a parent changed my view on how I interract with
my students. Find myself often thinking, "If this were my child, how would I
want the teacher to handle him/her?" I feel that new perspective has helped
me to be a better, more compassionate teacher. I thoroughly enjoy working
with teenagers and teaching them to love (maybe that's a stretch) and
appreciate literature and writing.
I love the saying, "If you give a man to fish, he'll eat for a day. If you
teach him to fish he'll eat for a lifetime." The same holds true for my
classroom. I work very hard to teach my students to be responsible for
their education and I hold them accountable for many concepts that they need
now, next year, and into the future. They don't always like or appreciate
being held to high standards, but it is good for them and it helps them grow
and mature as students and as people.
