My experience with AP Chemistry began 11 years ago as a student at Carl
Sandburg High School. I was taught by Sherry Berman-Robinson, a renowned
chemistry teacher who has coauthored several AP Chemistry study guides and
leads chemistry workshops across the country. The reason I teach this
course
is because I firmly believe in the AP Program, and specifically, the
advantage AP Chemistry students have over their peers in terms of readiness
for science courses in college. Take advantage of this opportunity this year-
-
the labs, small class size, extra practice resources, and willingness of
the
teacher to provide extra help. If you take advantage of these
opportunities, you will be that much farther ahead next year!
This year you have the opportunity to build a strong foundation in my
favorite subject through lectures, technology, demonstrations, projects, and
exciting labs! You will learn problem-solving skills that are central to
not only chemistry, but for science courses that you will take in the
future. It is my goal that you will come away from this course with a solid
foundation in introductory chemistry topics, and perhaps, spark an interest
in a subject that I so much enjoy!
