| WELCOME BACK! Here are just a few thoughts....
READING - All Lincoln Elementary School students are required to read each
night for at least 15 minutes. Some days they will be given a specific
reading assignment. On the days they are not given specific reading homework
they made read anything they choose. They will be required to keep a reading
log that shows what they read and for how long each night.
MATH - Math homework will be assigned Monday through Thursday. We will
always go over the assignment in class and the assignment will generally be
a review or practice of a skill they have already mastered. All students
should immediately begin working on their MULTIPLICATION FACTS.
SPELLING - Tests will be on Friday unless otherwise notified.
HOMEWORK - Math homework will usually be assigned daily. Other subjects,
such as Spelling, Social Studies, Science, English and Reading may have
homework assigned also. I will do my best not to assign more than 20-30
minutes of homework on any night. I do expect students to put in the extra
effort needed to study for upcoming tests and complete incomplete work also.
TESTS - I will make a huge effort to provide students with a study guide at
least 2 days before any quiz or test. I am also an advocate of authentic
assessment, i.e., giving the students a choice in how they present what they
know. Therefore, I will not always rely on a paper and pencil test but may
use partner projects, drawings, presentations, journals, logs and other
forms of student work to assess their progress.
