This week in first grade (2/6– 2/10):
MATH:
* Writing the numbers 84, 85, 86, 87
* Addition Facts: Sums of 10
* Identifying a missing addend
* Drawing congruent shapes and designs
* Measuring and drawing line segments to the nearest inch
Math homework is assigned each day and should be completed and returned to school the following morning. There will be a math test on Friday, February 10. Please review graded homework.
READING/LA:
* Stories: The Mouse’s House, The Kite
* Comprehension Strategy: Cause and Effect
* Phonics: The long i sound, soft c and g, final nd, ng, nk
* Sight Words: fly, give, good, her, little, our, try, was
* Grammar: Using I or me in a sentence, contractions
SPELLING:
The Long o Sound – boat, slow, coat, grow, glow, toad, know, soap, croak, road - There will be a Spelling Test on Friday, February 10. Spelling homework is due on Friday, February 10 – ACTIVITIES HAVE CHANGED FOR THIRD QUARTER. I will dictate 3 sentences. Students will be required to write the sentences correctly – Uppercase at the beginning, period at the end, and words spelled correctly. Ex: The cat is big.
SOCIAL STUDIES:
There will be a Social Studies test on Wednesday, February 8. Review materials were sent home on Friday, February 3.
