WHAT IS SOUND?
SCIENCE ACTIVITY DUE: MAY 28, 2012

Create a guitar out of materials from home! You’ll be jammin’ on this guitar 
while experimenting with vibrations.
 
 	empty paper towel rolls
 	about 5 rubber bands
 	empty tissue box
 	scissors
 
1.	Cut a small hole in one of the two smallest sides of the box.

2.	Put the paper towel roll in the hole and tape it in place.  This 
makes it look like a guitar. 

3.	Put the rubber bands around the box covering the hole. You can put 
them around the long way or the short way. Strum your guitar by running your 
finger tips over the rubber bands, or try plucking each band by itself.

4.	Decorate as you wish by adding construction paper, stickers, etc.  
Feel free to be unique and create your guitar any way you wish, as long as 
you are using the materials above!























































Social Studies 3D PROJECT Due May 14


Build a Native American Shelter

            

Social Studies Project Due on: May 14, 2012
Objective: Demonstrate understanding by creating visuals.
Possible Materials: Construction paper, straws, craft sticks, pipe cleaners, 
clay, and small white board. 

Directions:  Have your child build a tepee, long house, or adobe building. 
Think about the ways in which the Native Americans depended on natural 
resources to create their shelters. It must be a 3-D visual sitting on a hard 
or sturdy white board (or anything that will help the shelter stand). Please 
make sure the white board is not bigger than 15” X15”.  Also, attach note 
cards explaining three interesting facts about the group or shelter that you 
chose. Do not forget a title, your name and date. 
Pretend you are a Native American and have fun creating your home!!

Dinosaur Diorama Science Project
Due: February 21, 2012

Create your own prehistoric dinosaur scene in a box. Just draw or add 
pictures to the box with a background and- welcome to the Mesozoic Era, 
the "Age of Dinosaurs."

Information:

you can include where the name comes from or what it means, what they eat, 
and any cool fact about your animal that is interesting. Have fun researching

Please follow directions above; if the project is not according to the 
directions, points will get taken off. You must use a regular size shoe box

As we are learning on how animals grow and change students learned about 
different animal classifications and characteristics. To reinforce the 
understanding of animal classifications, students will research on an animal 
and its characteristics.

group.
2.	Research about your animal and answer the following questions in a 
booklet form. (Construction paper is given to you, just add papers inside and 
staple!)

end marks.
4.	Add illustrations or paste pictures to your booklet.

neighborhoods. Each student needs to choose a community and create their own 
neighborhood. Students will present their projects to the class.

4.	This project is expected to be done by students with minimal parental 
assistance.

DUE: 

Interview one parent for the job they do. Ask them the following questions 
below.  You may ask additional questions to make your interview report more 
interesting. 
Write the questions and answers on a piece of paper.  Make sure the paper has 
your name, date, and a title.  Number the questions that you ask.
When you are done, take some photographs or draw pictures interviewing your 
parents.  This will give your report a perfect visual.  Take the sheet of 
paper, and illustration and attach it to construction paper. Have fun
