MIDDLE SCHOOL CONTRACT: RULES AND PROCEDURES
1.All classes will have an assigned seating chart, designated by the
teacher.
2.When students enter the class, they are expected to place class materials on desk and be ready for the lesson.
3.Students may only leave the class upon the verbal dismissal of the
teacher, regardless of whether the bell has rung or not.
4.The format for all middle school papers will consist of students writing in the upper right hand corner, their first and last names, the
date, and the title of the assignment. Failure to comply will result in
deduction of points.
5.Completed work will always be collected at the beginning of each class period.
6.Tardy Procedure:
1st Tardy-Verbal Warning
Subsequent Tardy-Stand 10 minutes
7. Materials that will always be required for the middle school classes are textbook, loose-leaf paper, writing utensil, notebook and folder. Other
materials may be required depending on the individual lesson.
8. If students do not come to class with the proper materials, they may
also lose points in class participation.
9. If students receive a new textbook, they will be held financially
liable for the book, (up to the cost, but not exceeding it,) if it is damaged
while in their care. If the students receive an old textbook, they will
document all the damage in it when they first received it, and then will be
held liable at the end of the year for whatever new damage has been inflicted
upon the text.
10. Leaving a textbook behind will result in consequences to get the textbook
back.
11. Any supplies left behind in class will be donated to charity.
12. Transition: If students are caught anywhere other than under
the supervision of
the teachers when transitioning occurs, detention will be given. Absolutely
no use of the elevators is allowed in the new premises. This is a security
issue that all students must abide by because of the new facilities in the
masjid area. Parents will be called home if students do not follow this rule.
13. Students will throw trash in the bin only. Any instances of littering
will result in the individual's cleaning the classroom.
14. Absolutely no gum chewing is allowed. There will be no distribution
of gum to individuals. No Gum is allowed on school premises.
15. If a student needs assistance, they are to raise their hands and wait
for the teacher to call on them.
16. If students are unsure of asking a question in front of their peers,
they may write it down on a piece of paper and give it to the teacher after
class is over.
17. Students will not be allowed to microwave lunches in school.
18. Lockers are to be cleaned daily by the student. Absolutely no food shall
remain in the lockers at the end of the school day.
19. Any disrespect of a student to a teacher, or of a student to another
student will not be tolerated. Disrespect includes but is not limited to:
talking back, insubordination, insults, name-calling, inappropriate remarks
or failure to refrain from an undesirable action, will be dealt with
accordingly by teachers and administration.
Homework Policy
20. Homework is always to be given in on the date it is due, with no
exceptions or excuses. A 0 will be given for any late daily assignments. If a
major assignment is late, 10 percent will be deducted from its final grade
for everyday it is late. In the case of major projects, 10 percent will be
deducted from its final grade for everyday it is late even when absent.
21. Teachers will not accept assignments on flash drives to be printed,
e-mails, or faxes. The work must be handed in to the teachers accordingly.
22. The Middle School will adhere to the standard grading scale of the
school. However, the percentage breakdown in terms of homework,
tests,quizzes, projects and participation is left to the discretion of each
individual Middle School teacher.
23. For excused absences, students will have the same number of days as
they were absent to make up the work. I.e. if a student missed two days they
would have two days to turn in the assignments.
24. Food Policy: No food is to be eaten in the classrooms, unless handed out with the permission of the teacher. Only water bottles are allowed, no other liquids may be consumed outside of the cafeteria.
Salah Policy:
25. Salah procedures will be explained to students on the first day of
school, they are expected to follow them.
26. Dismissal Policy: Middle school students will be dismissed from the gym.
They will be walked down by their last period teachers who will remain with
them in the gym until they are dismissed, or until 3:50, if the parent has not arrived yet.
27. ICMMC-After school detention is an ever present reality in terms of discipline. Students may end up in this unfortunate situation by breaking the three warnings rule, or any other offense deemed to be punished through after school detention.
Grading Scale
A: 90-100
B: 80-89
C: 70-79
D: 69-60
F: 59 or below
