News from Mrs. Battles and Mr. Dudzik…..
Now that the snowy season is fast approaching, we’d like to remind you that there are a number
of ways to find out if the school will be closed due to weather. Our office does not open until
7:30 a.m., so there will be no one in the office to answer your calls prior to then. However,
you can check for emergency closings the following ways:
•	Go Online and search for Hale Middle School at www.EmergencyClosing.com
•	Register to have information sent to you by visiting the above web site
•	Call 847-238-1234 and use our phone number (708-385-6690) as the ID
•	Check for updates from your favorite radio and TV stations. The TV stations include
CBS, ABC, NBC, WGN, CLTV, and FOX. The radio stations are WGN 720 or WBBM 780.

Remember that students should wear their ID’s throughout the school day. We are keeping track
of students who are missing their ID’s. Homeroom teachers checks students to make sure they
have ID’s during homeroom. When students go on a field trip, they must wear their ID. If
students need a new ID, they can purchase a new one from the office. The cost is $5.00 for the
ID and $1 for a replacement lanyard.

Check out our school website! You can go to our website and look at homework given, calendar of
events, announcements, and even the newsletter. To get to the website, go to
www.district130.org and click on “Schools”. A list of all the District 130 schools will then be
shown. Scroll down to Nathan Hale Middle School and click on “Nathan Hale Middle School Web
Site”.

News from the 8th Grade Team…..
The 8th grade students will have their graduation portraits taken on Wednesday, December 3rd.
Students will have their pictures taken in their cap and gown and also in their “good clothes”.
We ask that our young gentlemen wear a shirt and tie and the girls wear appropriate dress wear.
NO spaghetti straps, halter tops, low tops or other clothing that is not permitted by the
District 130 dress code. Girls, also remember that the portraits are taken from the shoulders
up, so it’s not necessary to wear strappy heels to school.

The 8th grade field trip in December will be on Friday, December 19th. We will be going to the
MegaPlex in Homer Glen to roller skate and play on the turf. The cost is $15. Please bring in

your children aren’t wearing anymore. Put these clean articles into a plastic bag or sturdy
paper bag and bring them to Mr. Harasen. He will deliver these items to a local shelter that
will distribute them to needy families in the area. Let’s all get in the holiday spirit and
help those who are less fortunate fight the “Hawk” this winter.

rates, ratios, and proportions. We will be working very hard!

opportunities to practice and apply the mathematical skills and concepts they are learning. The
stations will be used in addition to the direct instruction of lessons. The students will be
able to choose which stations they want to work on and they will be working at their own pace.
The stations will also allow students to reflect on their experiences and synthesize their
