Mission Statement, Goals, Philosophy & Non-Discrimination Policy

Mission Statement:
P.L.A.I.D. (Positive Learning in an Atmosphere of Individual Development) Academy's goal is to welcome each child into the realm of the successful independent learner.  The learning experience designed to achieve this goal places equal emphasis on knowledge, comprehension, application and creativity.  While basic elements may be traditional, the learning experience is often unique.  Multi-sensory teaching techniques and integrated curriculum encourage synergy for the learner between classroom experiences and real world expectations.  Community resources are used to enrich the curriculum.  Our small class size allows for individual attention and the interaction between students.  The right of each child to realize his or her learning potential is recognized side by side with the belief that self-confidence and the ability to work well with others help the student realize the full benefits of education.

Philosophy:

The educational program has been developed from the school's philosophy, special purpose and objective, from knowledge of the educational and developmental needs of its students and shall serve the educational functions for which the school exists.

Vision Statement of Education in Educational Goals:

To develop in all students the knowledge, understanding, skills and attitudes that will enable students to learn and thrive in a complex and changing society; to be able to solve problems to meet personal, social and academic needs; to develop physical and emotional well being; contribute to society as a productive citizen in his/her community; work independently and cooperatively in groups; understand and appreciate the diversity of our world and interdependence of its people; to continue to learn throughout their lives.
