Here is some information about our class and general information about first
grade...
***Please remember that reading logs are due every MONDAY. It is a Park
View requirement that all first graders either read or listen to someone
reading for 75 minutes each week. Have FUN with this requirement...have your
child read to you, read to him/her,or take turns reading pages to each
other. Have your child read to a sibling or a stuffed animal. Any type of
reading material is acceptable. Each week when your child returns their log
on Monday, they receive a tally mark and a sticker on our class chart.
***Reading, reading and more reading is the best way for your child to
become a more proficient reader. Just like in sports...the more you
practice...the more your skills improve.
***Each Friday your child will be bringing home their FRIDAY FOLDER. This
folder will be "stuffed" with important papers and information. Completed
work from the week, school information papers and my newsletter will be in
the folder. Please sign the sheet in the folder to let me know that you saw
your child's papers.
***There will usually be homework assigned on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday
and Thursday nights. Class books and copies of books will also be sent home.
Homework is due the next day. Class books should be read and returned the
next day if possible. Spelling tests will be on Fridays.
Typically the homework will be:
Monday - spelling
Tuesday - new vocabulary
Wednesday - guided reading books/papers
Thursday - math & study for spelling test
