Are you a whale?

Welcome!

We are the Wonderful Whales of Pecatonica Elementary School.

We are in Mrs. Wanke's first grade class.

You might think that being a whale is just a fun name for our class. However, our name teaches us something very important. Read below to learn about be what it means to be a whale.

What does it mean to be a whale?

In nature, whales travel in large, sometimes stable pods; they frequently hunt their prey in groups, migrate together, and share in the care of their young.

Killer whales/Orcas will have pod sizes anywhere from 6-40 members. The members of the pod hunt togeter in a very sophisticated manner, attacking even very large prey and then sharing it.

Whales show us the true meaning of teamwork, respect, and cooperation. If whales did not work together they would be less likely to get food and would be more vulnerable to preditors. It is quite possible that they would be extict!

In our classroom we try to be just like whales!

That is why we are called the Wonderful Whales!

1. We work together to learn

2. We solve our problems in a respectful manner

3. We encourage each other

4. We help others when in need
