Dear First Grade Families, Birthdays are a very special and exciting time for your children. To help us celebrate your son or daughter's birthday you may supply a birthday take home treat for the class. Please send individually wrapped treats for each child in our classroom to take home. Examples of treats that work well are wrapped cookies, fruit snacks, bags of chips, or snack-sized candy bars. Please do not send donuts, cupcakes, brownies, ice cream, or drinks. We will no longer take class time to eat treats and these items will be sent home. Also do not send anything with nuts or traces of nuts due to food allergies. If your child's birthday is in the summer; we will celebrate his/her half birthday. For example if your child's birthday is July 22nd, we will celebrate it on Jan. 22nd. If your child's birthday falls on a day off from school just send the treats the next school day. Currently there are 26 children in our class, but it is always a good idea to include a few extra treats. Since the treats are small, wrapped items, your child should be able to bring them to school on his/her own. Please call or e-mail prior to your child's birthday or half-birthday if you have any questions. Thanks for your cooperation with this new first grade birthday policy.
